You may recognize Sol de Oriente, the Instagram-worthy coastal retreat on the Pacific coast of Mexico, from Kylie Jenner’s Instagram feed. She vacationed there with friends in January 2021 (the villas rent for about $7,400 a night).

The luxury compound has 6 bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms across 4 structures, each with thatched palapa roofs and private oceanfront terraces.

The main Castle villa has a unique open design that frames the coastal views from practically every angle and features a 360-degree infinity pool, with one of the 3 bedrooms has steps leading right into the pool.

There’s also a 1-bedroom Tower villa and 2 additional 1-bedroom villas, perched high atop the cliffside and surrounded by 25,000 acres of the Chamela Cuixmala Reserve.

The retreat is fully-staffed with a live in personal butler, chef and maids in their own quarters.

The property is a part of the enclave Costa Careyes, a private beach resort community on the “Happy Coast” (the 200-mile coastline called the Costalegre) that attracts celebrities, artists, and well-heeled bohemians.

Discovered in the 60’s by Italian artist and banker, Gian Franco Brignone purchased 20,000 acres of coastal jungle with a vision to create an upscale community for creatives.

Today, the luxury resort and protected coast is one of the most exclusive getaways in Mexico, and it even boasts its own polo club, turtle sanctuary, and an annual invite-only festival Ondalinda, described as an elevated Burning Man.
