Jason Statham Quietly Sells His Mid-Century LA Home for $5,075,000

Jason Statham Quietly Sells His Mid-Century LA Home for $5,075,000

Jason Statham has quietly sold his mid-century home in the Hollywood Hills for $5,075,000.

Francis York reached out to Carolwood Estates to confirm the seller’s identity; the agency declined to comment. However, public records show Jason Statham previously listed the property in 2021 without completing a sale. The furniture and finishes in the new photos match those from the previous listing, suggesting that Statham remained the owner.

Located on Rising Glen Road, just above Sunset Boulevard, the home spans roughly 3,000 square feet and includes four bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms. It sits on a nearly 10,000-square-foot lot and retains the signature elements of postwar California modernism—most notably a butterfly roofline and cedar-lined ceilings that enhance the home’s sense of space and material warmth.

The award-winning property was originally designed in 1956 by architect David Hyun, one of the first Korean-American architects to practice in the United States.

Statham purchased the house in 2015 and worked with architect Jeff Allsbrook of Standard Architecture on a renovation that focused on preservation rather than reinvention. The team updated the home’s infrastructure and layout while maintaining the architectural integrity of Hyun’s original design.

The renovation preserved key features like the roof structure and ceiling planes, while modernizing the interiors with a restrained palette: white-lacquer cabinetry, basalt countertops, and concrete slab flooring that continues seamlessly outdoors. Floor-to-ceiling glass sliders open up the living areas to the backyard, blurring the boundaries between inside and out.

The backyard is designed around a private pool area, with wellness-focused additions such as an outdoor sauna, cold plunge, shower, and built-in grill. These features are integrated subtly into the landscape, reflecting current preferences for homes that support both relaxation and performance.

In 2020, the house received the AIA Los Angeles Residential Design Award and and has been featured online in Architectural Digest, Dwell, and Galerie Magazine for its sensitive approach to mid-century preservation. While celebrity ownership often attracts attention in the Los Angeles market, this home stands out for its architectural pedigree and the restraint shown in its renovation—a case study in how to upgrade a historic home without compromising its original vision.
