Renaissance Chateau Near the Swiss Border in France

Renaissance Chateau Near the Swiss Border in France

Château de Cornod is a Gothic Revival château set on the banks of the Loire in eastern France.

The 197 acre estate is located in Jura, a picturesque region nestled between the rolling hills of Burgundy on the west, the mountains of Alsace in the north, and the Swiss lakes in the east.

The French chateau for sale dates back to the 14th century, when it was built on the site of medieval remains, although the present-day castle and surrounding parkland date to 1876, designed by the architects Henri and Henri Feuga Despierre.

Château de Cornod underwent an award-winning restoration in 2002 and boasts 24 bedrooms and spectacular neo-gothic detailing throughout with a monumental stone staircase, frescoed room, marquetry floors, as well as vaulted and coffered ceilings throughout.

The property has over 75,000 square feet of interior space across the chateau and extensive outbuildings, and the extensive grounds boast natural attractions such as waterfall, cliffs, and caves, in addition to an equestrian centre with stables and paddocks.

The French-style gardens feature a grotto, a fountain, a kitchen garden, and a 19th century Dutch greenhouse.

The French estate is just one hour from Geneva by car and 15 minutes by helicopter.
