A Gatsby-Style Mansion on the North Shore

A Gatsby-Style Mansion on the North Shore

The greatest stories are inspired by reality, and in the 1920s Fitzgerald attended countless soirees at the mansions along the North Shore, also known as the Gold Coast of Long Island.

The French Normandy-style residence was designed in 1928 by legendary architects McKim, Mead & White.  The estate was owned by Junior League founder Mary Harriman Rumsey, whose father was railroad tycoon E.H. Harriman and brother New York governor W. Averell Harriman.

The 14-bedroom, 9-bathroom home has been lovingly maintained and features stunning period detail throughout and a cool, modern elegance.

Spanning 5.3 acres, the estate has lovely gardens, a tennis court, and a caretakers property. The waterfront home comes with a beach cottage, boathouse,  391 feet of sandy beach.
