For Sale: No 1. Wingfield House in Wiltshire, UK

Currently listed for sale for £1,100,000 with Savills, Wingfield House is a Grade II listed home on the edge of the village of Wingfield in Wiltshire.

The 18th-century manor house has been divided into several residences. No.1 Wingfield House occupies a substantial portion of the original building and retains a number of historic features, including a Victorian music room with an oak timbered barrel-vaulted ceiling and inglenook fireplace.

The house was purchased in 1861 by County Court judge Camille Félix Désiré Caillard, who expanded the property during the Victorian period. During the First World War it was used as a Red Cross hospital for wounded soldiers.

In 1935 the property was given to the Waifs and Strays Society and became the Margaret Caillard Memorial Home for Boys. The house was later requisitioned by the army during the Second World War before being divided into several residences after the war.

Today the house provides around 4,000 square feet of accommodation, including four bedrooms and several reception rooms, set within approximately one acre of gardens with mature trees, a pond, greenhouse and garage block.

Wingfield lies just south of the Cotswolds near the historic market town of Bradford-on-Avon.
